Maria's Challenge - A week on slimming world - Day Five
I've had to laugh while uploading today's photos, today is not a day for photogenic food.
Breakfast
Was a good girl and had a glass of water before leaving the house. I did not want to leave this morning, I've not had good sleep this week, the result of which I was super tired yesterday. I literally walked through the door and went straight to sleep for 45 minutes. Yesterday's longer car journey with boring traffic is not good for me when I'm tired, so hard not to doze off at traffic lights. I have been known to pull over into a lay-by or car park and have a 10 minute snooze when things get too bad. Today was much better thankfully but on waking I noticed how dark the mornings have become already, I had to put the light on before going down the stairs! I'm hoping this is mostly down to all the rain we've had in the last 48 hours and not really Autumn knocking on the door. The Mintons (cats) are particularly hazardous in the half light.

Lunch
After a morning spent in intense concentration working on some problems and on nothing that I had planned to work on, lunch was on me before I knew it. I had brought along a 1 syn cornish pasty. I'd made double the quantity yesterday (I later learned that Husband Tony had eaten one for breakfast with beans and one for lunch too - he says I have to make loads more - so they are obviously as nice as I think they are - going to try and make them into curry pasties next!). I heated it in the microwave so it was a bit chewier today, but the smell was lovely. I had it with mushy peas (free), which I should have stirred before serving - they look like a big splat in the picture! A bag of microwave veg (free and speed) and because I need pickles with my peas, a good helping of burger gherkins (speed). A bit of a pile up and I would definitely describe it as "dirty". I polished it off and if I'd been at home I would probably have had another nap, but I had a presentation to write in time for a meeting this afternoon. Did that, answered some queries and before I knew it, it was an hour and a half past home time! And ashamed as I am to say it I was peckish, so I had some sliced chicken and an apple. Bit concerned because usually if I get hungry like this it means a cold is coming, I'm supposed to come back from Center Parcs with a cold, not arrive with one!
Dinner

There is a website Two Chubby Cubs (in their own words - Warning this website contains blue language and graphic depictions of the Slimming World diet!), it's a website written by a couple who are following the Slimming World plan, their website and Facebook pages are an unofficial SW support, their write up and stories are often very rude and funny and not for the sensitive but they do have some great recipes. I had a bee in my bonnet about making their carbonara (free) and served it with mushrooms (speed), butternut squash (speed) and broccoli (speed). Unfortunately I blobbed the carbonara, added the egg to the spaghetti too soon, so it scrambled a little but it was still lovely and tasty. Washed down with a glass of water.
Lastly with coffee tonight, had a couple of hi-fi bars, had to syn them as I'd already had my Healthy B (6 syns)
In summary....
Healthy A - 30g Parmesan cheese in the carbonara
Healthy B - a weight watchers wrap (the pastry in my pasty)
Syns - 8
Types of fruit and vegetable -10
Small victory - got through the day without a can of diet coke!
