Another New Year.....

Christmas dinner 2012

I was surprised when I sat down this evening and realised that my last blog was on the 24 November...that was last year and I have a lot to blog about so it seems wrong of me to have left it so long.

Interesting Bauble
December as ever was a very busy month, busy at home getting ready for the festive season, getting ready for a dinosaur lovers 8th birthday, busy at work getting ready for an audit and an unexpected but interesting change of role, busy with dinner plans and a weekend away which I will tell you about on another day. Busy with all the boys...we nursed the guinea pigs through their bites and chest infections with antibiotics twice a day and a lot of lancing and squeezing and then there's Bob.

Bob the kitten - well he's growing, both in size and naughtiness as kittens do. The Christmas Tree went up, it got decorated, Bob undecorated it, he ate the fibre optics, the tree came down. We had no tree. We got out an old non optical tree and up it went, we decorated it, Bob undecorated it, he removed the branches we had a pathetic tree right up until Christmas Eve when somehow a miracle happened, we decorated it, Santa came and Bob forgot all about trees....he moved on to furniture deconstruction, wallpaper stripping, escaping, general savagery and the occasional calm moment where we might get a cuddle without losing skin!

I get into Christmas, I love it - the excitement and festivities, a few lovely days with the family when you can really enjoy each others company and put everything else on the back burner. Boxing Day was the annual gammon and chips day with my in-laws, then another annual event also involving chips, the chips & pickles sleepover with our good  friends Helen and Anthony and finally the long standing annual New Year get together with our oldest (as in longest time) friends Jean and Chris.

Phew - he's been, mucky chap!

I like New Year, I know lots of people who don't, they get tucked up in bed not wanting to see another year pass. I like to see in the New Year, out with the old and in with something new and unknown. New people to meet, places to go and for the same reason I don't mind having a birthday - getting older is a lot better than the alternative. January 1 is a time to get the calendar out and start planning how to fill the days.

2013 has started much the same as last year some new arrivals, some sad goodbyes and some exciting announcements.

I've not made any resolutions I would have broken them by now I've got some hopes for what the year will bring and I'll only find them out by getting on with it. Happy New Year!
