If you have been following The Bungalow Blues, you will know that we lost our lovely cat Polly two months ago. You may not know that there are imminent new arrivals ..more on this soon. We've been discussing the new arrivals for probably close to 2 years now and things are hotting up, in fact on Saturday their accommodation will arrive.
A lot of internet and pet shop research has been done, mostly leading to frustration that the reviewers say the hutches start to fall apart within a couple of months of arriving. So, in the midst of the ongoing laptop saga on Tuesday, Lauren and I headed over to
White Post Farm near Farnsfield to check out what they had on offer and they had just the thing.
Before we left, we nipped into the Farm Shop looking for red onions and avocados, they had no vegetables but sitting in a basket in the fridge were 3 goose eggs, priced at 50p each. The temptation was too great so I bought all 3 and we headed homewards.
We had a gorgeous Mexican tea...again I will share this in a few days...so the following morning Lauren and myself were not really hungry enough for goose egg on toast. Ma and Danda kindly took us out for a
Toby Carvery at the Watermill near Kingsmill in Mansfield, we had a lovely lunch and such good value.
So egg on toast was the ideal thing for our tea.

As you can see, the goose eggs were sold "mucky" |
 |
So Lauren gave them a bit of a scrub to avoid any unnecessary organic matter in the finished product |
 |
Toast in the toaster, eggs in the pan. They needed cracking with a knife as the shells are quite robust |
 |
My egg, a little crispy round the edges as mine was the last one out and as usual Lauren side tracked me! |

...demolished. They were big and eggy, like a slightly stronger chicken egg, but very rich and very tasty. I couldn't have one a day, but once in a while for a treat will do very nicely. |
omg, I could eat one a day. We had hens eggs for lunch today but we are going over to White Post next week for duck or goose eggs, not had one for ages. They look superb on that toast.
ReplyDeleteNever eaten one, hope to try them one day, mind you the size looks a bit daunting, I have used them for cooking many years ago, used to get them from Victoria Market.
